Black.

It’s just a color.

Right?

Then why does that color of skin bring prejudice.

Then why do we have to teach our people to not walk suspiciously.

Then why are there 3 black men shot by police in 48 hours.

They say it shouldn’t be ‘black lives matter’ but all lives matter.

That’s not the point.

The lives of these black lives shot in vain is the point.

They are shot this way, like wild animals, when they are not.

But the police get out unscathed.

They just killed a person.

For a second, let’s ignore the fact that they are black.

A man has been apprehended and is being held down.

Two men, on top of him, obviously overpowering him.

but he was still shot multiple times in the chest.

In front of children and bystanders.

………….. A black man.

Sure.

It’s just a color.

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.

-Martin Luther King, Jr.
